Our older children at Blue Windmill Nursery recently enjoyed a visit to a local park as part of our ongoing learning about road safety and the world around us.
Before setting off, the children put on their bright high-visibility jackets and talked about how these help people see them clearly when they are out and about. Along the way, we practised important road safety skills such as walking sensibly as a group along Addison Road, listening carefully to adults, and looking for traffic before crossing.
Once we arrived at the park, the children became nature detectives, spotting different plants, flowers, trees and grasses growing around them. They enjoyed looking closely at the colours, shapes and textures of the plants and talking about what they could see.
Experiences like these help children develop confidence in their local community while building their understanding of road safety for preschool children. They also encourage curiosity about nature and provide valuable opportunities for learning beyond the nursery gates.
We had a wonderful morning exploring together and look forward to many more outdoor adventures.
